LACES, SINEW, THREADS

DEERSKIN LACE 1/8" x 36" (3mm x 1 meter)

Dark Saddle, Chocolate, Black, and Red 1/8" Deerskin Lace made in U.S.A.

Royal Blue, Turquoise, Forest Green, and Purple 1/8" Deerskin Lace made in U.S.A.

These are straight cut Deerskin Lace 1/8"(3mm) wide. We straightedge the bellies off of the hide, and block to 36"(1 meter), trimming any excess from the neck end. We then strip the hide into 1/8"(3mm) laces. The 36"(1 meter) measurement is roughly the length of an average deerskin. They can be stretched 20-30%. These 1/8"(3mm) laces are useful for assembly and particularly useful for the Jewelry Trade and for bead stringing. They are packed in bags in 50 pieces of a color and we offer them in 14 colors.

5/16"(6mm) DEER and ELK LACES

A display of our 5/16" by 6'(6mm x 2 meter) Deerskin Laces.

We cut these laces out of Deer or Elk. They are circular cut; they start with a 1" circle with a hole in the center you can hang them by. They are 5/16"(6mm) wide by 6 foot(2 meter) long.
We make and have in stock the Deer in 14 colors as shown above. They are packed in bundles of 25 laces of a color.
The Elk laces are made to special order only in a limited range of colors. There is a 2 bag minimum per color on the Elk.

The Chocolate, Forest Green, and Purple, as shown in the pictures above, are an excellent example of the superiority of the human eye to the camera. In real life, these colors are discernable as being the colors they are.

SINEW

Sinew is a flat, waxed polyester thread that is waterproof, rot proof, and resistant to stretch. This flat thread easily threads the eye of a needle and sews or laces without cutting through the leather or hide. The flat thread ties a smaller, tighter knot than round thread. Sinew has a very high tensile strength for its size. The 70 pound flat sinew can be separated into five smaller threads simply by pulling the ends apart. Sinew strands can be hand braided or woven together.
We offer the flat sinew in Natural color in both ½# spools and bobbins. We offer Black and White in ¼# spools. We offer Black, White, Red, Green, and Blue in 60 foot bobbins.
We also offer Flat Sinew made in INDIA in ½# spools in a Light and a Dark color. Some craftsmen prefer the India made product. It probably depends more than anything on what a craftsmen is used to.

RAWHIDE LACE

This Rawhide Lace is cut from full thickness cowhide that is about 1/16" thick dry. It is coiled flat and can be taken from the coil as needed dry and then used. It is of good quality and we've had good luck with it.
